In this talk we cover how in just four months for our client, GE, we built an Open Source Highly Available PostgreSQL CF Service by utilizing various open source technologies together with custom daemons and deployed the end product as a BOSH release via Concourse Pipelines (Release & Deployment). We describe the architecture: the open source technologies used (and why we choose them), custom daemons, and pipelines. We also cover unique challenges we faced when building the desired features of this PostgreSQL service, features such as: CF SB Integration, High Availability, Fault Tolerance, Self Healing, Disaster Recovery, Multi-Data Center(AZ), Scaling Up and Scaling Out. Additionally, we will cover challenges which only revealed themselves under load within production and never within the confines of the release and development pipelines.
