The Cloud Foundry runtime implements cloud requirements for applications such as waste reduction through automation, scalability, on-demand self-service and self-healing. After experiencing the comfort of deploying apps to the CF runtime, the logical next step is to ask for the implementation of these cloud features for Cloud Foundry backing services, e.g. MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, etc.

In this talk you will see a draft of an ideal Cloud Foundry service framework. Furthermore you will learn about technical realization challenges and receive an overview of possible architectural approaches.

A scoped implementation example will be presented demonstrating the use of Bosh as the deployment-backend for self-provisioning Cloud Foundry services and see how cf create-service rolls out highly available MongoDB clusters.
